The Courage To Fight

Cancer, a word that strikes fear in hearts

A disease that tears families apart

It knows no bounds, no age or race

It strikes with stealth, with no trace

It starts with a cough, a pain, a lump

A trip to the doctor, a test, a thump

The news comes back, it's not good

A diagnosis of cancer, misunderstood

Treatment begins, a fight for life

Chemo and radiation, endless strife

Hair falls out, nausea takes hold

Energy drains, the body grows old

Hope and faith help carry on

But sometimes the fight is already won

By cancer's cruel and ruthless hand

Leaving loved ones to mourn and stand

In the aftermath, a hole remains

A life cut short, forever changed

But memories live on, a love that's true

Forever etched in hearts, forever due

Cancer, a disease we must defeat

For all those affected, a chance to retreat

From the pain and suffering it brings

To a life of health, happiness, and wings
